A large native evergreen, with its immature bark starting off an orange-red and scaly, maturing into a reddish-brown color with large, flat, irregularly shaped plates. Red pine can be in tolerant of urban conditions and is happiest in a well drained site

Soil conditions: acid soil, moist, sandy, and well-drained
Moisture tolerance: dry to moist
Fall color: red
